INTERVIEW & GIVEAWAY FROM THE TALENTED RACHAEL WADE

Thessa and Rachael took time to sit down and chat, and we're excited to share their visit with you!
At the end of this post there will be a giveaway of all 3 currently released Rachael Wade ebooks.
So please welcome Rachael and Thessa!!

Rachael Wade is the author of the Resistance Trilogy, as well as Preservation, an Adult Contemporary novel. Her next release is the Tragedy of Knowledge, the final book in the Resistance Trilogy, due out in October. She is also currently working on The Keepers Trilogy, her new post-apocalyptic fantasy romance series, as well as Love and Relativity, another Adult Contemporary. We have a lot to look forward to in 2013 from this talented writer.

Hello my dear friend! I know you’re a busy bee writing your heart out, so I’m honored that you took the time to be with us today. Thank you! So excited…YAY!!

Anything for you, my friend. Thank you so much for having me! It’s an honor to stop by today. :)

Q - For those who are new to your work, tell us a little bit about the Resistance Trilogy and Preservation.

Rachael - The Resistance Trilogy is a paranormal romance series that revolves around two MC love interests and their quest for freedom from the frozen soul (vampire) curse. It’s also an epic adventure series of sorts and focuses on a lot more than just their romantic relationship. It includes witches, hoodoo, Voodoo, and lots of magic. :)
Preservation is my first contemporary romance novel, and it tells the story of Kate Parker, a twenty-something college student who falls for her writing professor, Ryan Campbell. The story is about Kate finding out who she is and what she wants to change about herself, and her relationship with Ryan is the catalyst for that change. Both Kate and Ryan are damaged goods, though, and they bring out the best and worst in each other, so they have to figure out how to step outside of their comfort zones in order to make things work.

Q - The Tragedy of Knowledge, the third and final book in the Resistance Trilogy, is due out in October, how does it feel to finish off the series? What can we expect from our beloved Camille and Gavin?

Rachael - It feels great, but as many other writers would tell you, ending a series is a bittersweet thing. This final installment was especially exhausting to write—I had to read and re-read the first two books over and over to research and prevent any continuity errors, to make sure the world building was consistent—and then there was just the general pressure that it’s the last book. You can expect a big change with Camille and Gavin. They are more of a team, a unit. That’s all I can say about them without giving too much away. :)

Q - Preservation is your first Adult Contemporary novel, which I loved by the way. Where did you come up with the idea to write this novel?

Rachael - Thanks! I actually wrote Preservation for myself. I wasn’t even sure I was going to publish it right away. It was a very personal story and was inspired by my real-life experiences. I went through many of the things Kate did, and I’d been to all the places in the book, so I drew heavily from the setting for inspiration. I basically wrote it for closure for myself, and as a challenge to step outside of the fantasy realm for a bit.

Q - Each of your stories has some kick ass secondary characters. Two of my favorite ones are, of course, Dean and Carter in Preservation. Any thoughts of writing a spin-off series starring Dean and/or Carter, or any from the Resistance Trilogy?

Rachael - Dean and Carter were a blast to write. Actually, the announcement isn’t happening officially until October, but I can mention it now. :) Carter will have his own book. Preservation is going to be a series, so book 2 is titled “Reservation”, told from Ryan’s POV, and the third book will tell Carter’s story, which happens to involve a character from my upcoming contemporary release, Love and Relativity. So it will be about his story with that character. As for the Resistance series, there will be a novella at some point down the road, and it will tell the other supporting characters’ stories, in their own POVs. But that won’t happen for a while.

Q - What can you tell us about your upcoming works, The Keepers Trilogy, as well as Love & Relativity?

Rachael - The first two books of the Keepers Trilogy will release in 2013. It’s basically a sci-fi action series with a focus on a romance between the two leads. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are still trying to figure out who or what invaded the planet and why. Skylla, the main character, wakes up to find herself held captive by Jet, her kidnapper, and the story revolves around their journey as they try to get across the country to the Pacific Ocean, where they believe they can find those answers.
Love and Relativity is my upcoming contemporary romance novel, due out on 12/12/12. It’s about two people who are stark opposites, yet drawn together due to a tragic event. They’re friendly enemies, so it’s a friends-turned-lovers story. The story is basically about how they see things differently from one another and how that drives this constant wedge between them. They actually share some similarities, but their differences are stronger, so they have to figure out how to navigate their sort of push-pull relationship, and whether or not they want to ruin their friendship in the midst of it all.

Q - Of all of your characters, do you have a favorite? If so, who and why?

Rachael - Oh, man. That’s tough. I’d have to say Kate, though. A lot of people don’t like her, but I think she’s very misunderstood. Yeah, she’s closed off because of what she’s been through, but I don’t focus on the negatives. I focus on the positive, the person she became because of her situation. She’s strong, hard working, and self-sufficient. She’s a go-getter and knows what she wants. I admire that.

Q - Which character, in your opinion, has inherited most of your own personality?

Rachael - Another tough one! I guess I’d have to say Camille. She’s very empathetic of those around her—sometimes to a fault—and she’s also self-deprecating to fault, with I can relate to, so I’m sure some of my feelings rubbed off on her character. Also, I think Kate inherited some of my dry, sarcastic humor, and she doesn’t trust easily, and I definitely don’t.

Q - You’re heavily involved in various charities, most involving marine wildlife conservation and animal rights. Which one in particular is close to your heart? What’s the best way to get involved?

Rachael - Thank you so much for asking about that, because I love pointing people toward Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (http://www.seashepherd.org/). There are soooooo many others I care about that need attention, but Sea Shepherd is one in particular that I get all worked up about. So many people don’t realize that our oceans and the beautiful animals that inhabit them won’t always be there for us if we don’t value and respect them. Somewhere along the way, we’ve lost a basic respect for life, and that’s very tragic, because by losing that, we’re contributing to our own destruction. Sea Shepherd works to not only prevent barbaric marine life slaughter and cruelty, but they also help defend the quality of our oceans and ecosystems and work hard to influence environmental legislation. The best way to get involved is to donate, but if you can’t contribute financially, the next best thing is to live more eco-friendly and to become an advocate for the organization. There are so many ways to help fight for these animals and our oceans that don’t involve monetary donations. I suggest signing up as a volunteer for them and help with fundraisers or public awareness. Also, visit my fundraising and advocacy blog, www.LightsOnOutreach.com to find petitions you can sign to help make a difference.

FUN QUICKIES

Q - Who is your biggest celebrity crush, British and non-British? (You know I had to ask something relating to our Brits) :)

Great question! (Of course you did ;) ) Hhhmm, it’s a toss up. I have a massive crush on Robert Pattinson, but I guess he counts as both, right? I’ve also been madly in love with Johnny Depp since elementary school.

Q - What is your guilty pleasure? (This can be anything. Food, music, TV etc. For example, mine is listening and singing along to One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful….yeah, that’s right. I have no shame :)

LOL That’s awesome. Hhhhm, I’d have to say Tiramisu. It makes all things better. Oh, and old school 90s movies—all kinds. Especially Clueless *cough cough* yeah, I love that movie. Don’t judge.

Q - If you found a genie in a bottle and grants you three wishes, what would they be?

A long and healthy life, a pool boy that goes by the name of Christian Grey/Daemon Black/Insert hot-book-boyfriend-name-here (so I can admire from afar, to avoid pissing the hubby off), and of course, world peace *my best beauty pageant wave*. Yup, I’d be set. LOL

Q - Any parting words for your fans?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I would not be able to write for a living if you guys weren’t out there reading and telling people about my stuff. I love you to the moon and I’m completely humbled that I have the honor of entertaining you. Your support truly means the world.

Thank you so much for being with us today. We hope The Tragedy of Knowledge, along with all your future works, is a smashing success. We hope you stop by again soon.
Thanks so much, Thessa, and the rest of the ladies on the  blog for having me. I greatly appreciate your time!
