"Small Press Treasures" Blog Hop

    Over the course of the past year, the ladies here at S,E,R’s have had the pleasure of reading some really awesome books by some super fabulous authors. And to our surprise,a lot of these books came from Small press and independent authors.Well it comes as no surprise to us now that an incredible book can be found beyond the major publishers.So  for the next week we are very excited to put the spotlight on these authors who have commanded our attention, made us take notice, and turned us into a bunch of squealing  fan girls awaiting their next book! (These authors are mentioned in no particular order)

The path that was laid out before us started with a Sassy, snarky empath named Piper Anast. Rachel Firasek took us on her journey with Piper and her unique crime fighting skills along with the sexy Slade, and left us clamoring for the next book.  Firasek also introduced us to her creative Curse of the Phoenix series and gave us a  new world, and characters to love. 

    As our journey into the unknown continued we discovered  Mrs. E.L. James who brought us the lusty, naughty love story between Ana Steele, Christian Grey and his “fifty shades of fucked up“.  Fifty ruled our thoughts to the point it was hard to wrap our minds around the next books on our TBR.

    Mrs. Carolyn Crane….. How fantastic is this author who took us into an awesome Urban Fantasy world and gave us a unique story with Justine Jones a hypochondriac who learns to use her hypochondria to work for her instead of against her, with the help of the sexy Packard.  Crane gives us a colorful cast of characters to love, and the wait for Head Rush was exhausting, but well worth it!

    Along the way, we happened to come across a  book by Debra Anastasia called Poughkeepsie.WOW!! We could go on for days about this fabulous lady who tells us a heartwarming story of love,courage, heartbreak,loyalty,and self discovery where a young lady falls in love with a homeless man. Mrs. Anastasia’s story is full of some of the funniest most amazing characters, it has left us in dire need of the next story, as well as made our top favorite shelf! She also tells us a story in Crushed Seraphim where good and evil collide and find a love worth sacrificing for, and the devil has never been so sexy!!

    J.M. Darhower….. “Sempre”!  This book was an amazing, crazy terrific ride! Darhower took a cause she believes in and centered her story around it, incorporated the Italian Mafia,and the outcome was  SIMPLY FANTASTIC! With a cast of characters that will steal your heart and leave you wanting more, Darhower landed on the top shelf too! 

   J.A. Saare swept us off to New York with the awesome, outspoken necromancer Rhiannon Murphy, and the super sexy vampire Disco in her PNR novel, Dead Undead and Somewhere in Between.  After leaving us out on that cliff, we were chomping at the bit for the next book. Saare delivered a wild crazy ride with The Renfield Syndrome that did not disappoint!  After throwing us 100 years in to the future and  hanging us out on that cliff again, we are super excited that the next book will be coming soon. 

    Diving into the world of BDSM Novels,  we found Kallypso Masters new “Rescue Me” series, to be all kinds of toe curling yummy. Love her writing style, which is simply beautiful, and thus makes her one of our most anticipated authors.We love Kally, and can’t wait for the upcoming releases!

    To our Surprise, author C.J. Roberts took us to a dark place in Captive in the Dark, her debut full length novel where Livvy is abducted to be used as a pawn in Gabe’s quest for vengeance.  Roberts is an author to watch,  this lady can seriously write! Her sequel Seduced in the Dark, lands on our most anticipated list for 2012.

    Laura Hunsaker took us on a time travel adventure with super sexy highlander in Highland Destiny. This was a fast paced, hard to put down novel.  If you enjoy time travel, and historical fiction, you’ll enjoy this one!

    Some of our other favorite authors who have brought Greek mythology to the table, and a little PNR is Laura Kaye,her new series Hearts of the Anemoi introduced us to a new series featuring a different tale of Greek Mythology, and Owen Winters will certainly make you lick your lips, and ask for more.Another great author that brings the Greek mythology to the table is Lisa Beth Darling, and her “Of War” series. Darling’s stories are dark, mysterious, and challenging. She will keep you turning the pages, and the stories will stay with you for quite some time. Next, Rosalie Lario, her stories are full of twists and turns, and lots of demonic fun!

Elena~ Wow!!! I waited patiently for this novel and I'm now one satisfied content reader. Readers who love their Kinky BDSM should really look into and add this series to your shelves asap.

Holly- Holy Crap! I waited NOT so patiently for Master Adam's book and I have to say he was definitely worth the wait. Yowza!! Now, remember I began my love affair with Adam at, oh like, page 2 of Masters at Arms, and this kinky girl was more than ready for the fun to begin!!

Elena~ Karla waited nine years for Adam to give in and stop seeing her as the 16 year old teenage girl he met and rescued. ( Why? There's a 25years age gap.) Adam's ignorance of ignoring this little tiger was wrong in so many ways. Karla fights back with claws and doesn't give up. Once she stakes her claims there's no turning back.

Adam: "What would a young woman like you see in an old man like me?"

Karla: "Would you get your head out of your ass for once ,Adam and see what's been in front of your face for months? You need a living, breathing woman who can warm your bed and your heart. You need me, whether you're fucking ready to believe it or not."

Gotta love her snarkyness! Adam was a fool, not anymore........ The games he plays to try to scare Karla off leaves him dumbfounded. Whew!! Who new Karla and Adam could have so much chemistry? Ahem! I did. That Arabian Night-Harem Girl Scene, left me speechless. Lol!! My goodness! I'm trying so hard not to gush and squeal over this book, but I can't help it! They took over my body, I submit to Adam and Karla. Lol!!

Holly~I couldn't agree more E. I hope nobody has issues with the age difference because it really is a minor, back burner issue. Oh yeah, Adam tries to play the age card once or twice but thank god for Karla's tenaciousness!! I love that woman, she could not have been a better match for Adam, hell even Joni thought so *wink* :)

As for scene that started the quivering in my girl parts, OMG, the Shibari suspension scene, um, I would TOTALLY volunteer to let Master Adam practice (anything) on me! LOL - just kidding Karla *holding hands up and backing away*

Elena~ Although Adam and Karla fought over who was who's Hero, to me, they were both wrong, they were my Hero. *off to dreamy La-La Land*

Holly~ I tried really hard to drag this book out for as long as I could but I wanted to just devour it! Both Adam and Karla were wonderfully fun and emotional characters, as I knew they would be. As I said I fell in love instantly with them in Masters at Arms when Adam was a heart broken, lost Marine who became a hero to a fiesty, pink haired 16 year old girl when she needed him. Now, many years later, he is still her Hero!

I can't thank Kally enough for creating these wonderful characters for me to love and obsess over! Thank you for making Adam everything I knew he would be!!

I was a bit unsure at first whether I would be giving this story 4 or 5 stars, but after getting all the way through I say definitely solid 5 stars. There were a few things that I wasn't crazy about but I love these characters enough to be forgiving of their flaws, so to speak!

Let me preface my review by saying that if you have not first read Masters at Arms, please go get it and read it before you read this one. This book is #2 in the series and you absolutely need to read the first one to meet and get acquainted with each Dom before you read their individual stories.

This particular story belongs to Marc & Angelina, with a little bit of Luke's story thrown in. Marc rescues Angelina from an abusive Dom at the club that he co-owns with his two friends, Adam & Damian, assuming he will never see her again. Marc has had a rough go of it with women lately and is fighting the lingering thoughts and feelings that he has for Angel. They are unexpectedly thrown back together, possibly by fate, and oh yeah, let the fun and BDSM begin!! Angel swears she is never again going near any Dom or having anything to do with the BDSM scene, that is until Marc shows her just how amazingly satisfying it can be with the right Dom.

This book is wonderfully emotional and incredibly HOT!! My only complaint....to many secrets, Marc kept his secret all through the book and I hated that he just didn't come clean with Angel!! She so totally would have understood. Oh, and Luke has a secret, holy crap people - Communicate Already!!

All that aside, I LOVED THIS BOOK and am so looking forward to the next book, Adam's story, whom have I mentioned totally makes me swoon!!Oh, and I have to mention that I believe Kallypso needs a spanking for leaving me us with that slight cliff hanger, you know what I'm talking about! :)
