Falling Into You By Jasinda Wilder

Falling Into You  I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way.
Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Holly's Review:

5++ FANTASTICALLY EMOTIONAL STARS!!!!

“I’m not just falling in love with you, Nell. I’m falling into you. You’re an ocean, and I’m falling in, drowning in the depths of who you are. Like you said, it’s scary in a way, but it’s also the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. You are the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced.” ~Colton

Ok, did you not just feel all of the butterflies in your belly take flight?? OMG that statement just melted me!

This book totally ran the gauntlet of emotions for me! You know, just humming along loving the newly discovered love between best friends Nell and Kyle, watching them grow, fall in love, experience sex for the first time together...beautiful and then BAM! Kyle gets ripped away and Nell is left a broken mess! Between the pain and the guilt, albeit, totally unfounded guilt, she just can't seem to recover or move on.

Enter Colton...whom I have to say I loved even more than Kyle, I know, stop booing me for that, I just have a weakness for the bad boys. We really aren't even aware of Colton until Kyle dies and he is Nell's little bit of comfort at the funeral. But they are both in pretty bad shape.

Fast forward a couple of years and we find Nell and Colton chance meeting in New York. Colton has a nice little life carved out for himself, albeit, a hard earned life but simple and wonderful nonetheless. Only problem is he has never forgotten Nell and here she is again. Another melting moment for me was there meeting again in New York where they didn't speak a single word to each other simple sang and played there guitars to each other(you will have to read the book to get me on this one!)

As they try to make some kind of life, possibly together, they both have so many issues to over come but this story is written in such a way that the beauty of how they help each other is amazing! Nell feels guilty for wanting and eventually loving Colton, like she is betraying Kyle and trying to replace him! I wanted to scream at her because could she seriously not see that she was not replacing one for the other, they couldn't be more different!! She loved Kyle but was crazy combustible for Colton~Oh, and did I forget to mention their sex? IT WAS SMOKIN' HOT!! Oh mama, still fanning myself a little! :)

"… when you feel that kind of all-consuming need for someone, a person you’d do fucking anything for, no matter what? They’re in your fucking skin, in your soul, like the essence of who they are is imprinted on you so completely like the very air you breathe… That’s love.”

This is my first Jasinda Wilder book and it definitely won't be my last! She totally rocked my world with this one :)

Interview & Giveaway with Aleatha Romig

The Consequences Series is phenomenal. The psychological game that this author plays will completely scramble your emotions, your heart and your head. So when Aleatha Romig agreed to an interview, we were beyond honored and maybe a little intimidated. Holly and Thessa are huge fans of the series and proceeded to ask Ms. Romig questions that they know fans of the series want answers to, especially those pertaining to Tony and the series’ final book, Convicted. So without further adieu, we welcome Aleatha Romig!
-----
T: This is one of the most intense stories we’ve ever read. How did you come up with the concept?
A: I let my stories write themselves. I imagined the opening scene, saw this woman in the room, knew her injuries and couldn’t stop thinking about it.  I wanted to know how she got there, why she was there, and what would happen to her.
So, I started writing – truthfully without the thought of publishing.  It was just for fun! But, as the story came together, I liked it and wanted to share.  I wasn’t expecting the response I’ve received – truly amazing!
T & H: A lot of readers are severely torn on how they feel about Tony, can you tell us a little about how Tony came to you?
A: Just like the story, he developed. Tony is a combination of many characters and a few people I know.  Since CONSEQUENCES doesn’t have many of Tony’s POV’s, while I wrote it, I didn’t know what he was thinking... but I knew his actions and how they affected Claire!
T: How hard was it to write his character?
A: OKay, I know this makes me sound like a terrible person, but writing Tony’s character isn’t hard at all, it’s FUN! Now that I’ve written some of his POV’s it’s almost addicting! Being in that man’s head is GREAT! The last POV of his I wrote for Goodreads was with him drunk... that was AMAZING! He’s so raw and intense – I LOVE it!
H: Did you intend for him to become a hero we actually loved?
A: No and Yes – the original readers of CONSEQUENCES (my mom and sister-in-law) HATED him! I understand, he does some terrible things and I didn’t try to sugarcoat them.  That said, I also tried to make him sexy, with just a small window of possibility.  When readers started to tell me that they “saw” that possibility and loved him, despite his faults, I was happy!
T: How you do YOU personally feel about him?
I love him! That doesn’t mean I don’t think he deserves CONSEQUENCES for the things he’s done.  I LOVE him and Claire because they’re my “firsts”. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget them, even as I move on to other projects.
T & H: Tony’s character continuously jumps between the lines of love and hate. How were you able to continuously walk this line? Were you concerned about criticism regarding the physical abuse?

A: I don’t know how I walk that line. I think I did it with honesty – I never tried to “pretend” he was a good guy. Hating him is acceptable! I also showed enough “good” and w/ TRUTH “vulnerability” that people who want to, can love him without shame.

H: You glossed over, for lack of a better word, the extreme of the violence as well as the sex – neither were graphic is what I mean – was this on purpose so that people focused more on the story as it unfolded?

A: Yes, as a “psychological thriller” CONSEQUENCES was meant to be more about Claire’s psychological experience – how she coped, how she survived. It was never meant to be erotic.  Instead of spelling everything out, I gave my readers license to use their experience and imagination to fill in the blanks.  I KNOW some people have assumed Claire experienced more severe consequences than I originally intended.

H: Seeing as how I just finished learning the TRUTH, which was Amazing BTW,  - Are you seriously going to make me, I mean us all, wait a year for Convicted?

A: Yes. I promise I’m not being mean. My books are very detailed and complicated. I didn’t plan on writing a trilogy.  The story is quite involved, and I’m still writing.  I have a reputation to maintain, and I want each book of my series to be better than the one before.  I could have “popped” out CONVICTED, but it wouldn’t have been right.  Now, after much deliberation... it’s right!

H & T: Do you know how their story ends, or is it still unfolding for you? What can we expect in the final book?

A: I do now! Just like Truth, which I started about ten times (I have over 60 thousand words in a file labeled “Truth – deleted”) Convicted has had many starts. None of them were right.  I didn’t feel good about it – then one day, without warning, it came to me! Since then, I can’t stop typing! That’s how I know I’ve got it!

T: After reading the end of Truth, can you give us a hint as to who was with Claire on that island? We have our theories, but perhaps you’ll give us a little clue…

A: Sure, why not, I mean suspense doesn’t play a role in my books.  So here goes... the person on the island with Claire is ... someone you’ve met in either Consequences or Truth!  There, I feel so much better getting that off my chest! The whole world knows... whew!

T: Any plans after you write and release Convicted?

A: Yes, I have many ideas.  I’m pretty excited about one in particular.  I’d love to write more series; however, I think I want them to be two book series instead of three.  We’ll see how it goes, but I’d love to be able to produce both books within twelve months.  I think knowing it’s a series and where it will end when I start, will be helpful!

Walking Disaster #2 By Jamie Mcguire

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Holly's Review:

 5+++ FABULOUSLY AMAZING STARS!!!!!!!!

We have all heard that there are always two sides to every story and let me just say that hearing both sides of an amazing story was really one of the coolest things I have read!!

I have read many story where the author has offered up certain pivotal scenes from both POV's and that is so awesome to a reader. Or a story that is written by flipping back and forth between the hero and heroine's POV. But I believe this is the first book I have read that the author then offered us the ENTIRE story from the heroes POV as well!

Obviously I am going to begin by saying DO NOT read this book if you have not read Beautiful Disaster, you need to experience both, trust me. Is there anyone who has not read Beautiful Disaster?? LOL - Just kidding, anyway, reading BD is entirely through Abby's eyes and it was amazing! But reading WD is entirely through Travis's eyes and what an amazing ride this was. I have to say getting this book early was like the friggin' highlight of my week!! Hey, that's not sad, is it?? :)

I totally devoured this book!! It is so amazing to me how different some sections of the story were when seeing them from inside Travis's head. Now, there are times that during BD Travis seemed a bit crazy and unstable but OMG that could not be farther from the truth! That boy was so in love and unable to process this that I hurt for him!!

I'd finally found a girl that was interesting enough to get to know, and a version of me had already hurt her.

I really loved being able to learn and feel all of Travis's insecurities. We always know that there is a reason that he is the way he is and he can explain it, but it's not the same as being with him when he completely snaps! OMG, during the scene where he loses it and tears up the house when Abby leaves...Holy Crap y'all - I was sobbing going through this with him. The pain was a tangible thing!!

I enjoyed this book so much and it was definitely worth the wait. I have to share my favorite part though, we all know what Travis told Abby about why he called her Pigeon, but this logic, this explanation says it all when it comes to understanding Travis, IMO!

I decided a long time ago I would feed on the vultures until a dove came along. A pigeon. The kind of soul that didn't impede on anyone; just walked around worrying about its own business, trying to get through life without pulling everyone else down with its own needs and selfish habits. Brave. A communicator. Intelligent. Beautiful. Soft-spoken. A creature that mates for life. Unattainable until she has a reason to trust you. ~Travis Maddox

Take What You Want By Jeanette Grey

Take What You WantShe needs an escape…and he’s exactly what she had in mind.

College senior Ellen Price spends every spare minute studying to get into medical school. Until spring break yawns before her, as empty as her wallet.

With no money to hit the beach, she fills her empty to-do list with a plan: for just one week, she will become the kind of take-no-prisoners woman she secretly wishes to be, starting with the hot guy at the bar. It's a no-risk situation: at the end of break, he’ll head back to his campus, and she’ll go back to hers. No muss, no fuss.

At first, Josh Markley isn’t sure what to think when the quiet, intense beauty from his pre-med classes approaches him for a night of casual sex. Even more mystifying, she doesn’t seem to return his recognition. But if she wants to play “strangers in a bar”, he’s game.

Their passionate night is a welcome respite from life’s stress, but afterward, Josh realizes he wants more—from himself, from life, from Ellen. Except she still thinks he’s a one-off she’ll never see again. Confessing the truth now—before she figures it out on her own—could shatter the fragile beginnings of just what the doctor ordered. A forever love.

Warning: Contains mistaken identities, a sometimes-glasses-wearing hottie, deep questions about figuring out what you want from life, and a red-hot college romance.

Grace's Review:

She is the shy and smart one who just wants one memorable spring break before heading to medical school. For once in her life Ellen Price was going to take what she wants...starting with the very hot guy at the bar. Josh Markley wondered what game the girl he'd been admiring from his pre-med classes was playing at when she didn't recognize him at the bar. She wants a one night stand with him, and he surely isn't about to pass that up. One intense night leads to one week of passion, each telling the other half truths. What will happen to them after the week is over?

Oh my, oh my!!! If you're a fan of college romances with lots of heat, don't hesitate to pick this one up! It may be a quick read, but Jeanette Grey has managed to create an emotion-filled novella that is so very satisfying. I just adored Ellen and Josh right from the start. I loved how Ellen was willing to be bold and step out of her comfort zone. Josh may have played along with her little game, but I don't really blame him for trying not to scare her away. Josh...le sigh...glasses, Harley and all! All I have to say is where was Josh Markley when I was in college?

If you've never read anything from Jeanette Grey, then you're in for a real treat! She's awesome at writing highly erotic stories with lots of heart. I love how she combines words to make them flow to make you feel like you're reading something truly special. This story falls into the New Adult category. Grey really does capture the uncertainty and fears of college seniors who are just planning out their lives. In Take What You Want the steamy scenes are well placed, and yet there is a whole lot of story and genuine romance, as well. I really enjoy quick, satisfying reads, and this one did not disappoint. Loved, loved, loved!

Reckless By S.C Stephens #3

Reckless (Thoughtless, #3)Can love survive when life gets Reckless?

When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other survive the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they've formed, the new family they've found, and the history they've forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band's exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price-but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?

I am so very sad to say goodbye one of my favorite rock star boyfriends, but this was a beautiful, perfect end to the series!!

We watched Kellen & Kiera go through so god awful, painful times in Thoughtless and Effortless and come out the other side and find happiness together. Reckless picks right up as the band is edging into the big time and getting ready to tour. Now that Kiera has finished school she is planning to stand by her man and tour with the band. They of course have some issues but the thing I loved most about this one was I didn't feel like I was gonna lose my shit reading it!! Sometimes during the first two books I would find myself bawling so hard I had to put it down and walk away for a bit.

Reckless is not quite as heavy! That said there are of course tests and trials of Kellan and Kiera's love for each other, which couldn't be stronger btw, but there are also a ton of sweet and amazing moments!! My favorite being the rose petals as a sort of post it notes - every damn time I felt myself melt a little! Oh and the tattoo! They are just the sweetest effing couple I can't stand it!

“He needed more and more of me. He would always want me near him. I would always be first in his eyes. We were a good match. A perfect match. Soul mates.”

Kiera is no longer wishy washy which was one of my biggest issues with her early on in the series. She has really seemed to grow up emotionally. I also have to mention how much I loved the where the relationship between Kellen, Kiera and Denny has gone and how far they have all come! This is truly a story of true love, forgiveness, friendship and family!

“Our lives are crazy. When moments to remember happen, you have to pause a second to appreciate them. Otherwise none of this is worth it. And getting married to you is definitely a moment to remember." ~Kellan

I will end this by saying that if you loved the first two parts of this story I can guarantee you will absolutely love the way it ends. We are even blessed with a wonderfully beautiful epilogue so you can breath a beautiful sigh contentment when you finally read their last page!

 Great City......

Mick and Paddy were walking in Covent Garden in London. It was their first week in the capital and they were a bit naïve.
'Lord above Paddy, this is a great city,' says Mick.

'Why's that Mick?' responds Paddy.

'Well, to be sure,' explains Mick, 'where else in the world would a complete stranger come up to you, make idle chat, invite you to dinner and then offer you to spend the night at their house?'

'Begorrah, ' splutters Paddy, 'did that happen to you?'

'No,' says Mick, 'but it happens to my beautiful sister all the time.

On Every Street (The Artists Trilogy, #0.5) by Karina Halle

When young con artist Ellie Watt decides to call herself Eden White and go after the drug lord who ruined her as a child, she never expects to fall for one of his henchmen. But Javier Bernal is no ordinary man. Subtly dangerous and overwhelmingly seductive, Eden finds herself passionately in love with Javier, the very person she's set-up to betray. With her body and heart in a heated battle against her deep need for revenge, no one will walk away from this con a winner.

This novella takes place six years before Sins & Needles. It can be read before or after Sins & Needles and may also be read as a standalone.

Rhonda's review

“ I need you. I need you to believe in me. I need your love to make me feel like I can be redeemed.-Javier

( Ramon Rodriguez)
My Javier

After finishing Sins & Needles by Karina Halle, I was intrigued by Javier, and wanted to know more about him. In On Every Street, that's exactly what I got. (purrrrrrr) Javier was just as yummy as I thought he would be. However this story was doomed from the start, because any relationship that's built on a lie can't end well. Having already read Sins & Needles, I knew how this story would end, but I got to experience the journey through the eyes of Eden White, (Ellie Watt).

There was so much working against these two, starting with Eden's con, Eden's revenge, Eden's ghost. Never did she plan to fall for her mark, and fall hard she did! Javier seemed to fall just as hard. Javier is a criminal, and very possessive, to the point of being a bit creepy at times. Javier was fun at times and very intense in his feelings for Eden. Eden completely lost herself in Javier, and lost sight of her goals. Then Eden's world comes crashing down around her because of Javier's betrayal.

Karina Halle did an incredible job of putting me right in Eden's head, and at the same time getting Javier Bernal's character across in Eden's POV. I have to admit, I really enjoyed Javier, and not only that I got to know Eden (Ellie) more and understand and like her more. I understand why Eden fell for him, I would have too. Even though I knew how this would end, I felt like I took this journey right along with Eden, and my heart broke right long with hers.

For the readers that have already read Sins & Needles, this is a wonderful treat that will give you more insight into Javier and the dynamics of their relationship. For those that haven't you can read either book first, one doesn't take away from the other, Just pick one and enjoy!

Free Fall #BK4 By Catherine Mann

Free Fall (Elite Force, #4)On This Mission, There Are No Accidents...

Pararescueman Jose "Cuervo" James is the guy they call for the most dangerous assignments. He lives for his job.

On a high-risk rescue deep in the African jungle, Jose encounters sexy, smart Interpol agent Stella Carson. They'd once had an affair that burned hot and fast, but family is everything to Stella, and Jose just can't go there.

Fate has thrown them into the deadly hot zone together, and sparks will fly...but only if they can live to tell about it.

Grace's Review:

“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” -- Carl Jung

I immediately grinned when I saw my favorite Carl Jung quote at the beginning of Free Fall. Upon finishing, I revisited this quote and thought how fitting it was for Jose and Stella's story.

Although Stella Carson, a code breaker and trained agent for Interpol, meets pararescueman Jose “Cuervo” James in the prologue, the story quickly jumps forward six months later to the present when they are no longer together. Circumstance brings their lives together again when Jose is called in to be part of the team to rescue Stella, who was taken hostage while undercover.

In the midst of terrorists threats and twists unfolding, we get glimpses of Jose and Stella's relationship through flashbacks. I know some would prefer that the story not go back and forth from past to present, but I found this didn't bother me so much. The flashbacks to their romantic dates together were some of my favorite parts! In these scenes Catherine Mann whisks the reader away to the most romantic and exotic locations in Africa. Jose planned some truly special dates for Stella to sweep her off her feet. Really, even I was swept off my feet! So, why did these two soul mates and intense lovers break up?

I found two running themes throughout Free Fall...second chances and making difficult choices in order to protect loved ones. Jose and Stella have a huge opportunity for a second chance to be together if they can only work out their differences. I love how Catherine Mann wove the second theme throughout the story. Boy, does it get really emotional as the plot thickens!

There is no doubt that fans of the Elite Force series will enjoy Free Fall. The heart-pounding action and suspense is all there. Free Fall can be read as a standalone. I've only read books 2 and 4, but I very much enjoy this series and plan to read the other books soon. I've been hooked! Catherine Mann's military romances are simply quite addicting!

***I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

Consequences BK#1 By Aletha Romig

Consequences (Consequences, #1)Besieged by memories of a brutal abduction, Claire Nichols wakes in an unfamiliar bedroom, within a luxurious mansion. Her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met, Anthony Rawlings.
Unbeknownst to Claire, for a very long time, she has been within Anthony’s sights. Many of the pivotal events in her life occurred, due to his sinister manipulation. Every action has a consequence, and his actions result in their chance meeting.
More than a psychological thriller, Consequences is a vivid story of one woman’s struggle to survive incomprehensible circumstances. Every aspect of her being suddenly depends upon the tall, wealthy, dark haired, dark eyed businessman. Anthony Rawlings is known to the world as prosperous, benevolent, and kind. Claire quickly learns that he can also be a menacing controlling captor.
With few options but concession, Claire attempts to earn her freedom, while enduring a hellish existence that truly appears perfect. Persevering tests and trials, she struggles to retain her pure Midwest values and beliefs. Encouraged by memories of a loving upbringing, she gains strength in the simplest of joys: solitude in nature and good in the face of evil.
His goal in sight, Anthony’s calculated agenda encounters an unforeseen detour. He becomes captivated by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination. The interaction of these two compelling characters instigates strong emotions: fear, anger, love, and lust. Claire and Anthony’s tumultuous journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.
Utilizing vivid detail, this 167,000-word novel unfolds like a movie, before the eyes of its readers. From the opening criminal abduction, through twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Anthony’s motivation becomes evident.

Anthony and Claire must decide if they will stay true to one another, or allow preceding actions to result in justifiable Consequences.

About half way through this book I thought I knew what it was all about and it was horrific and I was angry, I was already writing the review in my head! I was SO WRONG! This book was so many things I don’t know where to start. One thing it is NOT is a love story. There is nothing fluffy or sweet about it, although at times you want to think maybe…but NO! I am going to review and I am going to try really hard not to give any spoilers, but I have to explain~

I LOVED THIS STORY! I HATED TONY – YES, LOVE AND HATE!! This story will evoke so many incredibly strong emotions in you that you will have no idea whether to be horrified, cry, scream or throw the book(I actually did this at one point) Seriously, I am not sure the last time my emotions were dragged all over by a book. I honestly hurt for Claire but understood most(definitely not all)of her actions.

There are times you will want to stop reading but I do believe that it virtually impossible! This story is so engaging and compelling; you can’t help it, even when you are horrified you have to soldier on.

The first thing I need to do is thank Ms Romig for writing a book I absolutely could not put down and was up until 1am finishing because I JUST HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!!

I have to start by saying I don’t think I have ever read a story where there was no hero, even an anti-hero will do but Anthony is NO hero of any kind! He is handsome and cruel, sadistic, manipulative and controlling. The beginning of the book finds Claire Nichols waking up in a strange bedroom in sore and scared from being beaten and kidnapped and she doesn’t remember much. But she does remember goi
ng to dinner with handsome Anthony Rawlings.

When Anthony returns to her he explains that they entered into a contract were he paid off all of her debt and he now owns her for as long as he sees fit to pay off her debt to him. Claire is terrified and soon learns that *actions have consequences* so she does her level best to follow Anthony's rules:

Do as your told, do not divulge personal information, actions have consequences, appearances are of vital importance and public failure is not an option

Claire is a prisoner and her capture is cruel and sadistic, but following the rules buys her freedoms and as the weeks and months go by they fall into a rhythm of sorts. Crazy right?! Oh, it gets crazier – think Stockholm syndrome. Claire has compartmentalized enough that she has convinced herself that she can find happiness here, until one major misunderstanding causes Anthony to beat Claire almost to death!!

Oh yeah, you heard right! For days she is unconscious, broken and being fed through a tube while Tony sat at her bedside. When she woke and remembered what happened, she STILL followed his rules(Do not divulge personal information) and claimed an accident while in the woods where Anthony said he found her. So for the rest of the book the beating is referred to as “The Accident”!! – Wait, it gets better, once she has healed and Tony promises not to hurt her again, if she doesn’t give him cause to, they actually begin to fall for each other and eventually she marries him!! You heard me MARRIES HIM!!! HOLY CRAP, RIGHT?!!

Now, you may think you have this story figured out and it is just a sad story of a woman kidnapped to falls for her capture and they live a sick life filled with wealth and riches and domestic abuse!! But…you could not be farther from the truth of where this story is going to take you!!

I could seriously go on and on and on about this book but I will just finish by saying, if you can handle a some darkness in your stories you will love this crazy mind fuck of a ride! I promise!!

Fascinate..........

A teacher asked her students to use the word FASCINATE in a sentence.

Marta said, My family went to the Louisville Zoo, and it was fascinating to see all the animals.

The teacher said, That was good, but I wanted the word FASCINATE.

Sarita raised her hand. She said, My family went to the Cincinnati Zoo and I was fascinated by the animals.
That's good, too, said the teacher, but I wanted the word FASCINATE.

Little Johnny raised his hand.
The teacher hesitated because Johnny was noted for his bad language, but surely he couldn't damage the word fascinate, so she called on him.
Johnny said proudly, My sister has a sweater with 10 buttons, but her boobs are so big she can only fasten eight!
