Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting

An emotional love story that follows the touch-and-go relationship of Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.

As Hayden and Tenley navigate their newfound but slightly unstable relationship, they want to trust each other, but Hayden is hiding a dark and shameful past that he doesn't ever want Tenley to find out about. And Tenley has secrets of her own that could make Hayden run away forever. When Tenley asks Hayden to put a beautifully elaborate tattoo across her back, the two form what they thought was an unshakeable bond. But when Tenley's past shows up on her doorstep, will Hayden stand by her side...or run?

My Review:

Let me start by telling you that I picked this book up and started on it a while ago.  I stopped reading it because I didn't feel like I was all that into it.   Well I have felt like that about several books as of late, and decided it must just be me.  Well A couple of months had passed and I decided I was going to pick this book back up and see how it goes.  I am so glad I did!!

Helena Hunting is a wonderful writer, and is very good at crafting her words!  I have filled this book with highlights and bookmarks galore!   I guess timing can be everything sometimes because I enjoyed this book so much!

In this story we meet Tenley and Hayden, both of whom are trying to pick up the pieces of their damaged pasts and are both recovering from great losses.  Hayden is a tattoo artist who is a partner at a tattoo shop across the street from where Tenley works and lives.  They come together over the planning of a tattoo for Tenley.  They have already been harboring a heavy attraction for one another.

I loved the character development of all the characters especially Hayden! *thud*    I just adore him so much, he is so giving of himself, and protective, and kind, and sexy as hell!  He also has a territorial side that I wasn't sure if it was a good thing or creepy.   But I decided it depended on the person and since Hayden hit all the right spots with me, wrapped in ink and steel,  I determined that it was good.   ;-)

Tenley is a sweet girl, trying to find her way in the world after devistating losses.  She decides to move away from all the reminders of her past and finds Hayden.  The relationship progresses kind of slow, which I enjoyed.  I loved the tension build up between Tenley and Hayden.  There were times I was irritated with Tenley and her lack of honesty.  I just felt like she doubted Hayden's acceptance too much.  In the end I found her to be okay I guess.

I really enjoyed getting to know this cast of characters and immersing myself in their world and drama.   I am also very glad with the way that this book ended that I already have Inked Armour ready to go!

Will their secrets  of their pasts get in the way of their future?

Orphan Black season 1- Review

Since I haven't had much time for reading, I wanted to take time to write about what I have had time for.  TV!  I've been catching up on missed television, SOA, American Horror Story,  and Game of Thrones just to name a few.
Well.... today I'm all about Orphan Black!  Orphan Black airs on BBC America and has just finished with season 2.  Last week I sat down and watched season 1.  I was hooked with the very first episode!

As the show begins, Sarah Manning a streetsmart hustler is on the run from her exboyfriend and witnesses the suicide of a stranger,  a stranger that looks just like her!   Sarah decides to take over the identity of this stranger so she can empty her bank account.   Well that is easier said than done!  Little does Sarah know, the stranger was a cop and this sets in motion all of the events to take place.  Sarah eventually comes face to face with herself ( literally ) several time and discovers that she is a clone, and so the conspiracy begins to unfold.   Sarah  quickly finds herself in a race to save herself and her daughter.

This show is smart, edgy, dark, suspenseful, and well thought out!   The cast of characters are wonderful!  Tatiana Maslany who plays Sarah Manning and half of the cast is AMAZING!!  She does such a great job giving all the characters she plays their own individuality.  Although Tatiana Maslany does a superb job portraying all the clones, I think Sarah and Helena are are my favorite.  Maybe because they are both badass!!   Sarah Manning has a gay step brother named Felix played by Jordan Gavaris  who is the source of many laughs on the show!  I absolutely adore his character and the fun he brings to the show.  He is very loyal to Sarah and will do anything for her.   In one way or the other he ends up mixed up in all the shenanigans too!  (LOL!)  Ladies, never fear, we do get some eye candy with Dylan Bruce who plays the oh so scrumptious boyfriend to one of the girls. Is he good, or bad?  I'm still not sure. Maybe a little of both!  ;)    Oh, and did I mention that Tatiana Maslany is AMAZING??

If you haven't yet watched this show, I highly recommend it!  Unfortunately Netflix doesn't have this show, but season 1 is available to Amazon Prime members at no charge!  If you're lucky your cable provider will have season 2 on demand.   I can't wait to start on season 2,  I can hardly think of anything else!

This is the scene when Sarah decides to become Elizabeth Childs in order to clean out her bank account.

The Prince (Original Sinners #3) by Tiffany Reisz

The Prince (The Original Sinners, #3)

Rhonda's Review:
You know, I’m sitting here not exactly sure where to start with this review. So bear with me while I ramble. I can say as I’ve said before that Tiffany Reisz has a brilliant voice, and I have loved every one of her books in this series, and all of the shorts that involve these characters in this seductive, dark, and alluring world she has created. This is one of the best cast of characters I’ve ever read, Reisz gives each of them their own distinct personalities, and just when you think you know them, you learn something new. I love that Reisz has the ability to keep this series interesting, and to someone like me that is so invested in this series, captivated in the characters and the plot.

I absolutely love Nora Sutherlin, and I love who she is with Wesley, whom I adore, and while I enjoyed this part of the story, Kingsley and Soren stole the show. I loved every detail of Kingsley and Soren’s past, how they met the dynamics of their friendship.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Kingsley Edge any more than I do, I found out I can. I. Absolutely. Love. Him!

If you’re already invested in this series, you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t read the first two books in this series, go back and start there. Read the reviews and understand what you’re possibly getting yourself in to, and decide if you’re up for the journey. I am eagerly waiting for more! All Tiffany Reisz has to do is crook her finger and I’ll be right there for the next book.

(Thanks to Netgalley for providing the ARC!)

Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld #1) - Gena Showalter

His powers -- Inhuman
His passion -- Beyond immortal . . .

The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, #1) Darkest Night by Gena Showalter
Lords Of The Underworld, Book 1

All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member -- a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments... and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction -- and a soul-shattering test of love...
Though they carry an eternal curse, the Lords of the Underworld are irresistibly seductive -- and unimaginably powerful...

I have taken the “Bait” Mrs. Showalter has dangled in front of me.  This is my first read from this author,  and I enjoyed it a lot!!

I wasn’t quite sure in the beginning, but I quickly warmed to it.  Like most first books in a series, the first one bears the burden of set up.  I really like the concept, and meeting all the Lords.

Based on the Greek Mythology of Pandora’s box, Showalter put her own little spin on the story.  Thousands of years ago,  The gods assigned a warrior to guard, and protect the box that held captive all the evil demons in the world, Pandora a fierce female warrior was given the task, however the other warriors of the gods knew she wasn’t the strongest warrior to protect the box.  So, more as to prove a point to  the gods, the other warriors banded together to steal the box from Pandora.  As a result the demons escaped and upon recapture the gods cursed each of the warriors to house a demon within themselves.  Maddox’s demon is Violence,  and after Violence took over him, he went into  a rage, and killed Pandora.  As part of Maddox’s curse he is to die each night at midnight, by the same sword as he used to kill Pandora, in the same manner, 6 stab wounds to the stomach.  And two of his fellow warriors, friends, cohorts in crime are to deliver his death, every night for eternity.  After the Warriors were cursed to house the demons, they struggled to overpower their demons, and war within themselves daily to maintain that control.

Events in Greece split the warriors, some staying behind to fight the Hunters that are after them, and the missing box.  This particular group left Greece and ended up in Budapest, where the locals for centuries have thought them to be angels, some rumors of them being demons, but they’ve established a home there, and given generously to the community, and done their best to keep peace in the city.  Well the status quo routine is about to change for Maddox ( Violence ), Aeron ( Wrath ), Paris ( Promiscuity ), Torin ( Disease ), Reyes ( Pain ), and Lucien ( Death ).

They’ve been content to live and let live, as far as the Hunters are concerned, but The Hunters are coming to Budapest on their hunt for the Pandora’s box to recapture the demons, but if that happens, the warriors die. So they have to protect their demon in order to live, and now it's becoming a race against the Hunters to find Pandora's box first.

When Ashlyn Darrow appears on the property, followed by Hunters,  Maddox is the only one to go after them, because he and Torin are the only ones at home, and Torin’s curse of Disease always keeps him away from everyone.

When Maddox comes face to face in the woods surrounding the warrior’s  home,  they both instantly start to feel a peace they’ve never felt.  Of course there is concern that Ashlyn may have been sent by the hunters as “Bait”,  but Ashlyn is seeking help from the warriors, and she finds peace instantly with Maddox, and is willing to go anywhere with him.

I really enjoyed this story, in the latter part of the story, the warriors that Maddox and company split from all those centuries ago resurface in Budapest.  This adds even more yummies to the series!!  I find myself looking forward to Giddeon, Paris, and Torin most.   This was a great story of love, and soul mate finally found, self preservation, and self sacrifice.  Maddox was delicious, and even though our heroine is a human virgin, she’s strong willed and willing to do anything to save her demon lover, and she isn’t holding on to her virginity for any prudish reasons, she’s quite the horny one. Events along with personal demons of her own have just left her without much contact with many people.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys PNR, and hasn’t read this series.

Styxx (Dark-Hunter #23) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

18386252Just when you thought doomsday was over...

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother’s side. They’ve spent more centuries going at each other’s throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he’s willing to trade his life and future for Acheron’s.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now. She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her.

But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it’s hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

Sam's Review
Photobucket

The basis of the story is the comparison of what happen in Acherons story. We get to see what happened to Styxx and the real truth behind what everyone else saw as a spoiled, rich prince. Basically everything you read in Acherons book is thrown to the wind. Now don’t get me wrong this was one the most amazing books I have ever read but at the same time the most horrific book I have ever read. There is more rape in this book than I could have ever imagined, so I must forewarn all future readers that this book is not for the faint hearted. It gutted me reading the pain and suffering Styxx went through to get his HEA. Sadly Styxx suffered more pain and torture through the book and only had a very small handful of happy.
Styxx was one the most admirable hero’s I have read in a long time. His bravery succeeded anyone I have ever read about. And although he was a brave warrior, he was the most gently soul and timid man. He gave his heart utterly and truly to those he loved and asked of nothing in return.

Beth was awesome. This woman won me over simply by being able to overlook all of Styxx scars, wounds and insecurities and loving him for the man he was regardless of what she found out about him. Sadly Beth and Styxx only get a small handful of moments together but SK has made them so very precious to the reader.

There is so much depth in this story that it’s almost impossible to talk about portions of the story without revealing the story, and that is something that I want the readers to experience for themselves. But know that this is the other side of the story, the side where we find out that the grass is most certainly not greener on the other side. Its the story of a love that literally goes beyond the ages to finally find its self.

In comparison to Acherons book, this was a lot more horrific and not so much happy. I can’t get past the amount of rape and torture Styxx went through. And when you finally think he has had enough, he gets gang raped again. Acheron was painted to be an arrogant dick in this book, but if you have read his story then it all plateaus its self out in understanding, so I do recommend reading both books.
Not sure what is next for Kenyon, but I still love this series and won’t stop reading it. Put aside the sadness from this book and everything else readers are getting the knickers in a knot for and you can truly appreciate the beauty in the writing. No faults what’s so ever.
Five out five for its brilliance, for Styxx and for Beth

Wethering The Storm BY Samantha Towle (BK#2)

Wethering the Storm (The Storm, #2)Music journalist Tru Bennett has done the impossible: capture the heart of rock-star bad boy Jake Wethers. Now they’re busy planning a wedding and navigating their new life together in the US. Of course Tru misses London and her best friend, Simone, but living happily ever after with Jake in LA is going to be great…right?

Wrong. Even the bright California sun can’t whitewash the dark side of celebrity coupledom. Greedy music execs, merciless paparazzi, and Jake’s wild past are lurking around every corner. Making matters worse, Jake announces he doesn’t want kids, which just may be a deal breaker.

Tru loves Jake more than anything. But when a devastating crisis threatens to destroy everything they’ve fought for, the couple must face the hard truth: What if, this time, love is not enough?

Holly's Review:

I think because it's been so long I sort of forgot how much I FREAKING LOVE JAKE WETHERS!!!

Once upon a long time ago, in Manchester, a girl moved in next door to a boy...

This book pics up right where the first one left off with Jake and Tru on their island spending some well deserved time alone together. Which is all well and good but now they need to head back to reality and work at making a life together. Which is not as easy as it sounds what with Jake being a smoking hot, former man-whoring rock star! Real life and the past are bound to intrude and make the road a little bumpy.

But if any couple can do it it's Jake and Tru!! There love is amazing!

"My love for you is limitless, it knows no bounds. You're in my veins. I bleed you. I belong to you...I always have and always will." He takes a deep breath. "You will always be my June, Tru."

See what I mean...AWESOME LOVE!!

What I love most is that it is a lifetime love, Jake and Tru were the best of friends growing up and circumstances separated them and it took them 12 years to reconnect. Now that they have, the road is rocky but their love for each other is off the charts. So you just know they will find their HEA!

I really don't want to talk about the struggles they face in this book simply because I don't want to give anything away, you really need to experience it for yourself. I will promise you though after all the intense emotions you go through with these characters they do find their HEA and we get a wonderfully beautiful epilogue!! So please, if you haven't yet experience the phenomenon that is Jake Wethers and The Mighty Storm you need to do so immediately!! You won't regret it, I Promise!!

Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.

The Christmas He Loved Her By Juliana Stone (Bk#2)

The Christmas He Loved Her (Bad Boys of Crystal Lake, #2)

All he wants this Christmas is her.

In the small town of Crystal Lake, Christmas is a time for sledding, hot chocolate, and cozying up to the fire with those you love. For Jake Edwards, it’s also time to come home and face his past. He thought there would never be anything harder than losing his brother. Turns out there is: falling in love with his brother’s widow, Raine.

Ever since they were little, Jesse was the Edwards brother who was always there for her, and Jake was the one who knew just how to push her buttons. Raine can’t imagine a life without them, which is why it was doubly decimating when Jake left town after his brother’s sudden death. Now he’s back and she doesn’t know whether to be mad or thrilled. Maybe both. Maybe it will be the perfect chance for both of them to finally find happiness again.

Holly's Review:

4.5 Stars!!

The Bad Boys of Crystal Lake series has been a wonderfully pleasant surprise for me! I received the first book in this series last year from Netgalley and I loved it! First, they take place in northern Michigan, and since Michigan is my home I love authors that write stories based in my beautiful home state! I don't know why they have a special place in my heart, they just do!

This is the second book in that series and it was just as wonderful as the first. In this book we dive into the explosively tense relationship between Jake and Raine. Jake is the definition of a tortured hero, so of course I LOVE him!! The death of Jake's twin brother Jesse is what brought all of the Bad Boys back home in the first book. He was killed in Afghanistan and Jake was with him and of course he shoulders the unwarranted guilt for not bringing his brother home.

Oh, did I mention that Jesse was Raine's husband?? Yeah, and Jake is in love with her and has been since they were kids! See....issues!

Anyway, Raine grew up tight with the Bad Boys and even if she didn't know it she has always had massive chemistry with Jake. Of the brothers Jesse was the calm even tempered brother and Rained loved him for as long as she could remember. They married and had a great, if albeit, short life together. As for Jake and Raine, they argue and spark off of one another like nobody's business!!! See....Passion!

With Jesse gone both Jake and Raine go off the rails, Jake runs away and has been staying away for over a year, mainly because he doesn't trust himself with Raine, the only woman he has ever loved. But now that he has returned and he can see that Raine is wasting away and withdrawing from everyone he has to do something! I promise even with all of the emotion in this book there is a HEA!

Watching Raine and Jake bury their demons and find love was a beautiful journey and I was really happy to be along for the ride!!

There is one more Bad Boy and I can't wait for Mac's story - it is bound to be just as wonderfully tortured and emotional!! Keep them coming!

Gone Wild By Ever McCormick

Gone Wild

Just before college graduation, Ina--star of her senior class--made a mistake that went viral. Then, when life seemed like it couldn’t get any worse, she walked in on her boyfriend cheating with her roommate. To get away, Ina ventures to a cabin on a remote mountain, intent on some solitary time.

She doesn’t count on Adam -- the man who watches over the cabins -- being so distractingly sexy. Adam came to the mountain to get distance from anything that could cause him pain, and Ina stirs feelings in him he thought he’d left behind.

As Adam and Ina open up about their pasts, the mountain seems like the perfect setting for a second chance at love.

Until they realize they’re not alone.

Holly's Review:

This was actually a really good quick read! There could be so much more story here but I am happy with what we had!!

Ina heads off to a secluded mountain retreat after catching her boyfriend in bed with her roommate. She is devastated and betrayed and needs time alone to sort herself out. Pretty sure she didn't count on sexy mountain man landlord Adam!! Yum... can you picture him??? Oh, I can!!

Anyway, sorry I digress :) What I loved most about this book is that you have this guy and girl up on the mountain who could just have a steamy affair and that be it, no this book was about so much more. It was about learning who you really are and what you are capable of. Adam taught Ina about herself and she did the same for him. Of course, while they fell in love along the way.

This book had a little of everything - love, loss, betrayal, courage, suspense and a bit of sex thrown in there of course. This was a great way to spend an evening!

Getting Rowdy By Lori Foster (BK#3)

Getting Rowdy (Love Undercover, #3)  An alpha hero's attraction to the one woman he can't have could draw him into a killer's snare in the sizzling new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster.

Charismatic bar owner Rowdy Yates isn't the kind of man women say no to. So when he approaches waitress Avery Mullins, he fully expects to get her number. However, the elusive beauty has her reasons for keeping her distance-including a past that might come back to haunt them both.

Avery spends her nights working for tips...and trying to forget the secret Rowdy is determined to unearth. But when history threatens to repeat itself, Avery grows to rely on Rowdy's protective presence. As the sparks between them ignite, she will be forced to choose between the security she's finally found...and the passion she's always wanted.

Holly's Review:

Lori Foster has been one of my favorite authors since I began reading romance oh so long ago. Her books are deliciously sexy and super fun! Her Alphas are incredible and her heroine's are smart and strong!! I say all that to say that Getting Rowdy was the fun, sexy ride I fully expected it to be!!

Ever since I began this series - Love Undercover - I have been anxious to learn more about Rowdy. We get a little more of him as each book goes along and in the book prior to this he starts to show his interest in Avery Mullins, a cute little waitress at a bar he happened into. At the end of the last book Rowdy actually buys the bar and promotes Avery to head bartender. He plans to clean the little hell hole up and make it a nice reputable bar.

Avery is obviously attracted to Rowdy, who wouldn't be, he is friggin' gorgeous but she guards her heart by denying him at every turn because she knows he only wants sex and she wants so much more from him. Of course we all know, from romance novel experience, that Rowdy wants more than his typical one night stand from her even if he doesn't know it yet.

It takes the presence of a creepy ex with the intentions of returning Avery to the wealthy family fold to kick Rowdy's protective instincts into high gear and make the hard headed male realize that he is actually head over heels in love with Avery and has been for quite some time.

LF's books have everything you could want in romance novels - fun, humor, love, kindness and delicious sex scenes!

I know there is one more book scheduled in this series and Yay! because I really want to see what happens with Dash and the hard as lieutenant - but we were introduced to Cannon in this installment and HOLY CRAP - that hottie, as Avery called him, NEEDS his story told!!

Neither can deny the perfection of their passionate interludes, but with such imperfect lives, do they have any chance for a future together? Suddenly she's losing her heart and it's all happening much too fast.

Not recommended for readers under age 18 due to language and sexual content.

Holly's Review

Holly Leffler

3.5 to 4 Stars!!

Honestly, this book was better than I expected. I hate going into books with any kind of expectations but I figured it was your basic 'one night stand turned into true love' - well it's kinda like that but really so much more!!

The beginning finds Savannah and Luke the morning after what was supposed to simply a one night stand for Savannah, since she totally has no time for a relationship and refuses to depend on a man like her mother has made a career out of!! She is a strong, independent woman who thinks that love or a relationship will take all that away!

Well she definitely wasn't expecting a man like Luke! Let me just start right of by saying I am even a totally in love with Luke!

He is this amazing man, at 20 years old he is basically working long days, raising a 15 year old sister and trying to keep his family together with a mentally ill mother in the mix! He is simply incredible and there is so much more story here that wasn't told. The secondary characters alone. Natalie, Luke's sister and Savannah's two roommates...There is more story there and I hope we eventually get to hear them.

Anyway, as you can imagine, this one night stand quickly turns to love but of course there are obstacles to be overcome. But, fear not, they are overcome and there is a HEA!!

I really enjoyed this book, this is a first for me by this author and I am sure I will read more, especially if it involves any of these characters.

This is what you will find in the pages of  Karina Halle’s  Shooting Scars!  For those of you that have been on pins & needles waiting for this installment, the wait is now over!  And let me say, the wait was so worth it!!  Karina Halle brought everything I expected to this installment.  There are still so many questions to be answered,  and conflicts to be resolved. This book is told in Ellie and Camden's alternate POV, which I loved!

Once again, this was a crazy ride and the characters are so much fun to read.  Javier Bernal is bad!  He’s so very bad, but I constantly find it impossible to hate him even thought I probably should.  I’m going to take the opportunity now to say that if you haven’t read On Every Street which is not necessary to read before reading this, It is my  recommendation that you do.  It will give you all the deets on Ellie and Javier’s past, and I think it does add to the reading experience of this book.  Now, Back to Javier…  He is hot, sexy, a criminal and your not so average bad influence.  He is the dark and painful part of Ellie’s past come to reclaim her.  Only if it were that simple.  Javier always has his own agenda which is always the priority, but then he does something that makes me think that maybe he does have something good in that black heart of his.

Ellie Watt….  Well I was mad at her, then found myself just as conflicted as she was.  But she is such a likable character, that I find it difficult to stay mad at her.  Ellie is ever the pawn, someone always waiting to use her for their own gain, their own agenda. Now there’s a new game and the stakes are higher than ever, and Ellie must make some very hard decisions, decisions that will put her life at risk.  Ellie has a good heart, even though she does bad things.  She will put those she loves above all else, even herself.  Ellie finally comes face to face with the man who scarred her life, and is responsible for who she has become.   Except maybe that person was lost in the light of Camden McQueen.

Cam… Cam… Camden McQueen *sigh*  The tattoo artist.
I can’t say enough about him.  I love him because he is real, he is crazy, he is intense,  he is dark and he is genuine in his love, he's a stand up guy,  and wears his heart on his sleeve.  He is the sexy, hot, muscley nerd, and he makes my heart flutter.  Cam is on the adventure of a life time to save the woman he loves from the evil villain Javier Bernal.  There is no limits to what he’ll do to get to her.  He also must face some difficult situations and heartbreaking choices.  Camden is definitely a swoon worthy hero who wields a wicked needle.

This is such an exciting series, with so many twists and turns.  One helluva ride!

To be continued…………..

You know, I can’t stress enough how much you should embrace the geek (or Goth queen in Camden’s case) – I mean seriously, that dorky kid that gets teased in school is likely to run the world. Or again, in Camden’s case grow up to be a gorgeous, tattooed bad boy just looking for the girl he fell in love with and never forgot!! Holy Shit did Camden grow up good!!

I said all that to say this, I LOVE CAMDEN!! I mean REALLY, REALLY love him. When I read the first book in this series, Sins & Needles, I loved the story but even in the end I wasn’t sure about the characters. I almost felt like I didn’t get to know them enough. That was probably just me but in this installment I was so emotionally invested my heart ached and I was in tears in a couple spots!!

This installment picks up right where we left off in Sins & Needles. Ellie sacrificed herself and left with Javier to save Camden and reunite him with his ex wife and son. That doesn’t go exactly as planned, to say the least, and Camden barely escapes with his life and is now wanted by the police for murder! He is having a REALLY bad day!!

Camden seeks out Ellie’s friend Gus and they set out to get Ellie back from Javier.

This is where it gets into grey territory. Ellie absolutely does not want to be with Javier and Javier tells her she is free to go at any time, however, if she goes he can’t guarantee that Camden will stay safe…hello veiled threat! Javier has come a long way from the man I kinda fell in love with in On Every Street, he has lost whatever soul he had and is a big, bad scary drug lord now. He tells Ellie that he is giving her the opportunity to kill Travis Raines, the man who permanently scarred her and changed her life. Only now things have changed and she is scared and not sure that she wants that.

Things between Ellie and Javier get complicated, as in they start having the sex again!! I know, this was kind of a WTF moment for me as well!!! She doesn’t love him anymore but she also has no idea Camden is trying to get her back and thinks he is back with his family and happy!

Camden goes a bit dark too, we start to see a dark and scary side of him too and when him and Gus finally get to Ellie and he has to see something that he will NEVER be able to unsee I was sobbing because I could literally feel his pain!! The ache you knew that was crippling him was too much, even for me!!

Wow, just recapping is running me through the ringer again! I was all over the map in this book! I loved it, I think I said that already but really I did!! There was a bit of a cliffhanger, kinda like the first one where you know book three is going to pick up right where we left off! I for one can’t wait!!
