The Girls’ Night Out with Jeaniene Frost & J.A. Redmerski!

A couple of nights ago I had the opportunity to attend A book signing with Jeanie Frost and J.A Redmerski.  It was really nice because the crowd was small so it felt a little more personal and gave us a chance to just chat with one another instead of just a lot of Q & A.

This was my first time meeting both authors, and I was  browsing through books and turned around to head for the check out and there Jeaniene was, breezing into the store and right past me.  I was star struck for a second, but quickly recovered.  LOL! :-D

Let me say that both of these ladies are adorable!  It was such a pleasure to meet Jeaniene Frost because she was one of the first authors I had read when I first entered the world of Adult PNR.  Cat and Bones have been one of my favorite fictional couples ever.  Even though Cat was annoying in the beginning, she really grew into herself quite nicely and  is among my list of favorite Kick-Ass Chicks!

J.A. Redmerski has been on my TBR list for a long time. But when you're trying to keep up with a blog you try to keep things new and fresh,  and that means sometimes the books you've been really wanting to read take a backseat.  J.A. Redmerski ( Jessica ) was not at all what I expected.  I can't even begin to tell you what a sweetheart she is, and what a pleasure it was to meet this young lady from Little Rock, Arkansas!  Now anyone that really knows me knows I'm a BIG Razorback Football fan!  So since Jessica is from Arkansas she's already ok in my book!  ;-)

Jessica shared her story with us and it really touched my heart so much, she made my eyes well up.    I hope her success continues!

If any of you that run across this lady at book conventions or book signings don't hesitate to say hello, you might be surprised at what you find.  Jessica is completely approachable, and totally adorable!

I'm looking forward to finally picking up Edge of Never, and any of the rest of her books.  I'm reading Beautiful Ashes now by Jeaniene Frost, and I'm finally going to read Edge of Never next.
I'll keep you posted on both.

Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting

An emotional love story that follows the touch-and-go relationship of Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.

As Hayden and Tenley navigate their newfound but slightly unstable relationship, they want to trust each other, but Hayden is hiding a dark and shameful past that he doesn't ever want Tenley to find out about. And Tenley has secrets of her own that could make Hayden run away forever. When Tenley asks Hayden to put a beautifully elaborate tattoo across her back, the two form what they thought was an unshakeable bond. But when Tenley's past shows up on her doorstep, will Hayden stand by her side...or run?

My Review:

Let me start by telling you that I picked this book up and started on it a while ago.  I stopped reading it because I didn't feel like I was all that into it.   Well I have felt like that about several books as of late, and decided it must just be me.  Well A couple of months had passed and I decided I was going to pick this book back up and see how it goes.  I am so glad I did!!

Helena Hunting is a wonderful writer, and is very good at crafting her words!  I have filled this book with highlights and bookmarks galore!   I guess timing can be everything sometimes because I enjoyed this book so much!

In this story we meet Tenley and Hayden, both of whom are trying to pick up the pieces of their damaged pasts and are both recovering from great losses.  Hayden is a tattoo artist who is a partner at a tattoo shop across the street from where Tenley works and lives.  They come together over the planning of a tattoo for Tenley.  They have already been harboring a heavy attraction for one another.

I loved the character development of all the characters especially Hayden! *thud*    I just adore him so much, he is so giving of himself, and protective, and kind, and sexy as hell!  He also has a territorial side that I wasn't sure if it was a good thing or creepy.   But I decided it depended on the person and since Hayden hit all the right spots with me, wrapped in ink and steel,  I determined that it was good.   ;-)

Tenley is a sweet girl, trying to find her way in the world after devistating losses.  She decides to move away from all the reminders of her past and finds Hayden.  The relationship progresses kind of slow, which I enjoyed.  I loved the tension build up between Tenley and Hayden.  There were times I was irritated with Tenley and her lack of honesty.  I just felt like she doubted Hayden's acceptance too much.  In the end I found her to be okay I guess.

I really enjoyed getting to know this cast of characters and immersing myself in their world and drama.   I am also very glad with the way that this book ended that I already have Inked Armour ready to go!

Will their secrets  of their pasts get in the way of their future?

Orphan Black season 1- Review

Since I haven't had much time for reading, I wanted to take time to write about what I have had time for.  TV!  I've been catching up on missed television, SOA, American Horror Story,  and Game of Thrones just to name a few.
Well.... today I'm all about Orphan Black!  Orphan Black airs on BBC America and has just finished with season 2.  Last week I sat down and watched season 1.  I was hooked with the very first episode!

As the show begins, Sarah Manning a streetsmart hustler is on the run from her exboyfriend and witnesses the suicide of a stranger,  a stranger that looks just like her!   Sarah decides to take over the identity of this stranger so she can empty her bank account.   Well that is easier said than done!  Little does Sarah know, the stranger was a cop and this sets in motion all of the events to take place.  Sarah eventually comes face to face with herself ( literally ) several time and discovers that she is a clone, and so the conspiracy begins to unfold.   Sarah  quickly finds herself in a race to save herself and her daughter.

This show is smart, edgy, dark, suspenseful, and well thought out!   The cast of characters are wonderful!  Tatiana Maslany who plays Sarah Manning and half of the cast is AMAZING!!  She does such a great job giving all the characters she plays their own individuality.  Although Tatiana Maslany does a superb job portraying all the clones, I think Sarah and Helena are are my favorite.  Maybe because they are both badass!!   Sarah Manning has a gay step brother named Felix played by Jordan Gavaris  who is the source of many laughs on the show!  I absolutely adore his character and the fun he brings to the show.  He is very loyal to Sarah and will do anything for her.   In one way or the other he ends up mixed up in all the shenanigans too!  (LOL!)  Ladies, never fear, we do get some eye candy with Dylan Bruce who plays the oh so scrumptious boyfriend to one of the girls. Is he good, or bad?  I'm still not sure. Maybe a little of both!  ;)    Oh, and did I mention that Tatiana Maslany is AMAZING??

If you haven't yet watched this show, I highly recommend it!  Unfortunately Netflix doesn't have this show, but season 1 is available to Amazon Prime members at no charge!  If you're lucky your cable provider will have season 2 on demand.   I can't wait to start on season 2,  I can hardly think of anything else!

This is the scene when Sarah decides to become Elizabeth Childs in order to clean out her bank account.

The Prince (Original Sinners #3) by Tiffany Reisz

The Prince (The Original Sinners, #3)

Rhonda's Review:
You know, I’m sitting here not exactly sure where to start with this review. So bear with me while I ramble. I can say as I’ve said before that Tiffany Reisz has a brilliant voice, and I have loved every one of her books in this series, and all of the shorts that involve these characters in this seductive, dark, and alluring world she has created. This is one of the best cast of characters I’ve ever read, Reisz gives each of them their own distinct personalities, and just when you think you know them, you learn something new. I love that Reisz has the ability to keep this series interesting, and to someone like me that is so invested in this series, captivated in the characters and the plot.

I absolutely love Nora Sutherlin, and I love who she is with Wesley, whom I adore, and while I enjoyed this part of the story, Kingsley and Soren stole the show. I loved every detail of Kingsley and Soren’s past, how they met the dynamics of their friendship.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Kingsley Edge any more than I do, I found out I can. I. Absolutely. Love. Him!

If you’re already invested in this series, you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t read the first two books in this series, go back and start there. Read the reviews and understand what you’re possibly getting yourself in to, and decide if you’re up for the journey. I am eagerly waiting for more! All Tiffany Reisz has to do is crook her finger and I’ll be right there for the next book.

(Thanks to Netgalley for providing the ARC!)
