Rachel Firsasek Blog Spot

I had planned on working on a piece about BDSM and how I like to incorporate it in my everyday life…*winks at the crowd* no really *looks around* I’m serious. Don’t believe me? Ask Rhonda. You know? A subtle hair pull when the kids aren’t looking. A fun smack when I bend over to pick up laundry, but…I thought it might be a bit much for the blog today.
I decided to talk about something else instead. I’m here to give the low down on music and how it affects me and my writing.

Book 1: Piper’s Fury (Passion of the Soul series). I wrote this entire book the Emily Autumn album, Opheliac. The haunting melody gave me the sadness I needed to make Piper’s emotions feel true. If you’ve never heard of her and you enjoy Gothic electric violin music, you should definitely check it out!

Book 2: The Last Rising (Curse of the Phoenix series) was a unique character. There were many inspiring artists to choose from. I started out the playlist with November Rain by Guns & Roses because that song just touches something deep in my heart. If you’ve read the first page of The Last Rising and felt the hollow ache inside Ice, then you’ll totally get this. Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls totally made Turner come alive in the big sex scene. “Whisper in my ear, the things you want to feel…” If you’ve read the book, then you totally understand why this song fit that scene so well.

Book 3: The Last Awakening (Curse of the Phoenix series) was another hodge-podge of musical variety with a lot of female artists. But, of course, we had Southwest Voodoo by Insane Clown Posse. Every time Ari fumbled around with her spirits, I played this song. So much fun! When, Grey was aching for Ari, I played Addicted by Saving Abel. Grey was such a broken man, I just wanted to rock him and rock on him….er…you know what I mean.

Book 4: The Last Beginning (Curse of the Phoenix series) is almost ready for you to read. A few more polishes and it will be out there in the world. This soundtrack was the most girly, which was ironic because Sadie was the least prissy of the three phoenixes. I can’t wait for you to meet her. My fave song on this soundtrack: I’m a bitch, I’m a lover sung by Alanis Morrisette, really describes Sadie well. I think you are going to like her. And for the many heated scenes in this book, I played Animals by Nickleback over and over. My husband would walk in and shake his head and ask, “Are they screwing again?” I’d giggle and nod.

At the moment, I’m starting on a new project and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Something totally knew and Indie. I’m deathly afraid of venturing out on my own, but I’ve found some awesome writers that are willing to go in on this with me and hold my hand. Woot!

I hope you enjoyed my music and getting to know a little more about me—the woman behind the screen. If you listen to music while you read, please share? I’d love to know if there’s a fave soundtrack that you read to. Hugs, everyone!

Hey Rachel, I never thought about putting together a music soundtrack to listen to when I write. I usually write to the sound of dogs barking and my hubby's tv blaring, I may have to change that!

Nice Post

Rhonda, we are just too much alike. It's scary. Are you sure we weren't separated at birth? :) Thanks for having me back!!! And for the lovely Giveaway!

Hildie, it's the only way I can drown out hubs, kids, washing machine churning, dryer beating, and every and any other noise you can think of. :) I highly suggest trying it.

Lisa, thanks girl!

Roxanne, I love making them. Sometimes I'll think I have it just right and then while I'm writing a song will keep throwing me out of my story. It has to be trimmed, but then I'm right back into writing.

Dawn, it should be an experience. LOL! Playlist.com is super easy. :)

Elena, next time I'm going to bring Osiris to the blog. He's so protective of Sadie, it might be fun to torture him a bit. :) Thank you for having me back so often. Hugs to you gals!

Hmmm.... I'm going to work on my guts and give you a really fun parody, I think. I have to get hubs permission. That's kind of what a night in F home is like. One big amazing parody. :) But, I love him. He tries so hard!
