Naturally,Charlie By S.L Scott

Naturally, Charlie Twenty-five year old Charlotte “Charlie” Barrow is caught between her old life and the one she is beginning to build when she crosses paths with a handsome stranger on the subway. Not looking for romance, she closes her heart off to the possibilities of love. With a knack for mishaps, Charlie maintains her sense of humor while befriending the kind stranger who seems to be there at all the right times.

New York freelance writer, Charlie Adams, is forging his own path beyond the expectations of the society circles of his childhood. Rejecting family money, and fast-lane friends, he is snubbed by his family as he follows his own compass to a life more extraordinary.

Through a coincidence of events, they come to rely on each other for comfort. This is the tale of two Charlies learning to trust again while fighting their fates to create their own destiny.

Grace's Review:

Adorable!

A couple to mentions before I begin my review...

First, I'd like to thank S.L. Scott and The Writer's Coffee Shop for sending me an ARC for an honest review.
Second, how adorable is that cover! It is perfect for this story.
Third, be aware that reading this story might make you hungry. I feel I should go bake some cupcakes now. :)

“Charlie, this is Charlie. How funny is that?”

In the beginning, I was a little leery at reading something where the two main characters share the same name. This story is presented in the POV of both Charlie Barrow and Charlie Adams. From the start, you will quickly find out that their voices are different enough that it is easy to tell who was who.

“We're two strangers finding comfort in each other in a time of need.”

Charlie Barrow was just starting to move past her breakup with her ex-fiance´. So when she meets Charlie Adams, her heart is very delicate. She's not looking for love, but there is something comforting about him that she is drawn to. Charlie Adams can't stop thinking about the redhead he saw in the subway. A believer in destiny, he thinks they will meet again if it's meant to be. They do meet again and again after a series of events, which leads to a beginning of a beautiful, new relationship in which they are mainly friends and lean on each other for support.

In a story surrounding breakup, heartache, death, and dealing with expectations from high society families, the heart of it all is friendship. Probably the only thing I didn't like was the constant mentioning from Charlie B that she and Charlie A were only friends even though there was mutual attraction. This goes on well into the second half of the story; however, in the end, I do understand her issues and why she did that. Charlie A just adores Charlie B right from the beginning. He's patient, caring, and goes for whatever he sets his mind to doing. He does the sweetest things for her like having a special knock for her door every time he goes to see her...so cute! The romance between the two Charlies is simple, endearing, and timeless. Their banter is both funny and natural. It is obvious that they are true soul mates!

This is such a lovely story for a debut novel. I look forward to reading what this author has to offer next.
