First, let’s set the mood. The whole book this is the song that sat in my head. It’s the perfect song to go with this perfect book, so do yourself a favour and click the link, play the song in the background and listen to the words because it’s this book all over.
Okay so now that’s settled. Let’s talk bookie. Lorelei James is a Master at cowboy kink. I’m pretty sure if she were to check her shoes she would see my drool on their cause this woman is the Master at anything and everything Erotic. And what makes her any different from Joe Blow next to her that writes the same thing? Ms. James does it with style, she does it with finesse. She adds in a real story, a real background, and real a sense of passion and love – oh and how could I forget – HARD.CORE.COWBOY.LOVIN’.
Chase McKay is up shit creek without a paddle ( excuse my French), after being caught in one too many promiscuous positions with one too many girls, he has been suspended from the Professional Bull Riding tour until he can get his act together keep his walla walla wing wong in his pants and learn how to ride a bull again. Chase decides to head home to, Sundance Wyoming to see if he can get his head screwed back on and work his life back out, starting off with one month of celibacy. But when Chase arrives at his little hideaway he realises quickly that he has a roomie, the very tempting, Ava Copper.
Ava Cooper is an up and coming actress and after a massive public break up with her boyfriend she has been stalked by paparazzi. Deciding it was time to get away and hide for a while, Ava heads to Wyoming where she knows no one will be able to find her. When Ava and Chase meet they have this instant connection and together they embark on a road trip of a life time across the state. Staying in cheap hotels, eating fried food, eating each other.....*Gulp*
I loved so many things about this book I don’t know where to start! I thought there were a lot of different things in this book compared to the past Rough Riders series. Our hero for one had a major insecurity. Unlike the other 12673430354.0 McKay men, Chase wasn’t 6’6, he was a little bundle of scrumminess and around the 5’10 mark. And with Ava being taller than him, on numerous times in the book it came up.
Also, the relationship was very slow building. The twosome became best friends before lovers. They were so sweet... but when things did finally heat up *fans self* - I was looking for hubby mighty fast, I tell you! It was off the rector scale in the scorching factor!
Both had to work hard to be together and had to both take a long hard look at their lives and their choices along the way. We were introduced to new characters, were dealt a whopping blow in the Bull Fighting arena and were left hanging for more.
Two things that I really loved about the book on a more personal level, one; Ava is my daughter’s name and I just think it’s beautiful. Second; I know firsthand what it’s like to have a hubby under the 6ft bench mark. Thankfully I’m shorter than him, but in saying that, he is the shortest man we both know and that can be demoralizing.
Chasin Eight, is easily a FIVE STAR book for me. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.
